The SAMURAI in the moonlight

Hi! Iam Buffalo-Dragon in "YAGYU-TENGU-DO"-the unique practice space of the YAGYU-SHINKAGE-RYU Swordsmanship. I am a swordsman of YAGYU-SHINKAGE-RYU Swordsmanship. YAGYU-SHINKAGE-RYU is the Japanese traditional martial arts that "SHOGUN" General TOKUGAWA studied in Edo period. I am handing down the technique of Ultimate Swordsman "JUBEI YAGYU".
I would like to express the Spirit of the SAMURAI and the Soul of the Japanese.

The Miracle Stick

We practice YAGYU-SHINKAGE-RYU swordsmanship with
"FUKURO-SHINAI" - the special bamboo sword.

It is a large invention about 500 years ago.

To me, it is the Miracle Stick.

The Softfocus SAMURAI

There are two views to see the opponent.
They are "KAN"-Insight and "KEN"-Observation.

KEN is a view that focuses with eyes and sees the opponent's motion.

KAN is a view that feels the moving of opponent's mind without eyes.

In Swordsmanship KAN is valued more than KEN.
The sense that exceeds the five senses is necessary for it.

THUNDER-SWORD

There are a lot of postures in swordsmanship.

"Jodan-no-kamae" is to set up the sword
above my chest (or shoulder).

"Jodan-no-kamae" is called "Rai-tou" in
YAGYU-SHINKAGE-RYU Swordsmanship.

"Rai-tou" is a meaning of the sword of thunder.

Why is it called "THUNDER"?

It is because no one knows where it falls and when.!

"KIMONO" Everyday

I love "KIMONO" very much.

"KIMONO" is Japanese traditional clothes.

I especially like "Cotton KIMONO".

I can enjoy putting on "Cotton KIMONO" every day,

and wash it easily.

Do not twist the waist if you put on KIMONO.

The action of the Western way dishevels KIMONO style.

The usage of the body of the Japanese way is necessary
for putting on KIMONO.

This usage is connected with the usage of the body
of martial arts.

I would like to put on KIMONO everyday.

The Moon on Water

"MAAI"-the distance between you and your opponentis very important in the martial arts.

This distance is called "SUIGETSU"-the moon on water
in YAGYU-SHINKAGE-RYU swordsmanship.

Stepping inside this distance and stealing close to your
opponent without his noticing is like piercing the reflection
of the moon on water.

You should feel the borderline of the distance
that enemy's sword hits.

YAGYU-SHINKAGE-RYU is "The Art of The Distance".
I feel strongly the difficulty of keeping the same distance.

The Ultimate Swordsman "Jubei YAGYU"

Jubei YAGYU is the Ultimate Swordsman.

He is my Hero who was born 400 years ago.

He is the most famous swordsman in Japan.

But, his life is wrapped in a lot of mysteries.

Some people say he was the shogun's spy just like 007.

( I also think so. )

It is said that he was the one-eyed swordsman in the legend.

( In the picture he has two eyes. Why? )

Sonny Chiba likes "Jubei", too.

Mr. Chiba is performing in the role of "Jubei YAGYU"

on the movie and TV.

I always dream that I will be a excellent swordsman like him.

To me, he is like a god.

How do you have an umbrella in the hand?

It often rains recently in Japan.
The rainy season will come soon.

The method of gripping the hilt of the sword is just like
the method of gripping the handle of an umbrella in the rain
and the wind.
You should have an umbrella delicately, flexibly and softly.
Would you try it with an umbrella?

However, you must not do the STAR WARS play on the day of the rain.
